WATCH: Normalization Between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Why Did It Happen and Why Now?

The Murray Galinson San Diego-Israel Initiative (MGSDII) hosted a special panel discussion with leading Israeli academics on last week’s announcement, “No to Annexation and Yes to Normalization.”

The agreement that Israel would normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates and drop its plans to annex parts of the West Bank was a surprise in a region that seems stuck. The panelists discussed whether the Arab World is stepping away from its position to not negotiate with Israel until the “Palestinian Issue” is resolved and the change in the status of relations with other Arab countries.
