The MGSDII is a network of Israel Studies programs on San Diego campuses including UC San Diego (UCSD), San Diego State University (SDSU), CSU San Marcos (CSUSM), University of San Diego (USD) and Cal Western School of Law supported by a growing consortium of charitable funders. The programs include academic courses; lectures, Israel immersion experiences for students and faculty; visiting Israeli professors and postdocs; master classes and lecturers; conferences and symposiums; and community education opportunities.
Our program builds deep, diverse, academically rigorous Israel content and engagement across all campuses in San Diego.
Our goal is for students and faculty to emerge with more knowledge about Israel, its key successes and challenges, and its complexity. The MGSDII fills a real void on campuses and in the community by providing a spectrum of opportunities to connect San Diego to the State of Israel and its people from a variety of perspectives.
Investing in Israel Studies is an important way to affect knowledge and attitudes concerning Israel. By creating serious, educated, and balanced discourse, and by not shying away from Israel’s challenges and achievements, Israel Studies has a significant potential impact on the image of Israel that is different to, but on par with or exceeding, results of pro-Israel advocacy organizations.
