About Murray
Murray Galinson, of blessed memory, was a beloved leader and philanthropist deeply committed to the State of Israel and with much experience in and understanding of postsecondary education. Murray served as vice chair of the Leichtag Foundation and chair of the California State University system among many other leadership roles. As a means to honor these aspects of Murray’s legacy, we created a program named for him that builds deep, diverse, academically rigorous Israel content and engagement on local San Diego university and law campuses.
Murray was a passionate champion of the work and well understood the far-reaching benefits for better understanding the complexities of Israel, especially for making sure that there were opportunities for more nuanced understanding and discourse on campus.
“My Dad was a huge proponent of social justice and postsecondary education. He loved collaboration of any kind and would be so proud to have seen his idea come to fruition. The MGSDII is so important to me so that his legacy lives on for generations to come.”
